Growing Old (WDGS?)

So...These are my Golden Years?  What Does God Say?

"No one told me my senior years were going to be this rough!"

"I never figured old age would be like this."

"My body doesn't work like it use to."

"I am ashamed of some of the things I have done in my life."

"It's tough being alone."

"What am I suppose to do now?"

"Is this all there is?"

"I use to be somebody."

In His Word, the Bible, God promises you eternal life, if you choose Him:

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His is only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

NKJV John 3: 16

"Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the Saints and members of the household of God"  NKJV Eph. 2: 19

"In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you."  KJV John 14: 2

"We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." NKJV 2Cor. 5: 8

"...Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  NKJV Mat. 28: 20

"I will never leave you or forsake you."  NKJV Hebrews 13:5

It's true; there is no denying that life over sixty isn't easy.  In fact, the problems of senior life may be simply unbearable!  Why is life so cruel?  These statements and questions are valid.  But here are some true statements based on God's Word:

God loves you much more than you could ever know.  You are His much loved child.  Our Father in Heaven sent His only Son to die for our sins, your sins.  Jesus paid the penalty for our sins so that we can be in heaven with God for all eternity, if we choose Him.

Your friends at The Connection Church and  believe you are a valued member of society and can be part of the family of God.  We value our senior citizens and welcome you into our congregations.  We love you because God loves you, and God commands us to love you as we love our neighbors.

God has great plans for your future and a new, perfect body.  Just think of it.  A brand new body, free from pain or ailments.  A body that will never age or grow weary and will last for all eternity!

If you know Him, in a personal and intimate way, He has everlasting love, joy, hope, and peace for you in His kingdom.  There are no tears in heaven.

God plans to spend eternity in heaven with you.  He has a 'retirement plan' for you beyond your wildest dreams if you choose to worship Him now.  You must decide to do so before death.

If you know God and have repented of your sins, He has forgiven you and forgotten your sins.  He takes our sins and casts them as far away as the 'east is from the west'.

If you know Him, the very second you pass from this life, you will be in heaven in the very presence of Jesus Christ!  If you trust Him, death has no power over you and you need not fear death.

You know, none of us are satisfied or fulfilled by what we have accomplished in our lives.  None of us are completely satisfied with how our lives have turned out.  Life has shown us that people let us down, and things have a way of not working out some of the time.  Even our own bodies let us down!  But you know, God will never let you down or disappoint you?

Here is the truth.  Either you know Jesus Christ as your Savior and you are going to go to heaven, or you don't know Him and you won't.  If you don't know Jesus as your God and Lord and Savior, there is no better time to accept Him than now.

You can accept God's grace by praying to Him now, accepting Him as your Lord and savior, and receive the gift of salvation.  If you repeat a prayer like the one below with a humble heart, and mean it, God says you will be saved.

"Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner and I need you and your forgiveness.  Please come into my life and heart.  I need your grace Lord.  I believe that you are the Son of God and that you are my Savior.  Please save me Jesus!  Thank You.  Amen."

If you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, He will love you and help you through your struggles in life, even and especially now.  Don't stop loving Him now because you are a senior citizen.  Come worship with us or with any Christian church that believes in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as God, and that Jesus is our Savior- a church that believes that the Bible is the written Word of God, and it is all true.

Disclaimer:  These writings are not intended to be comprehensive by any means- there are tons of references that apply to the topics at hand.  I have included those Bible verses that God has put on my heart on these topics.  The 'What Does God Say (WDGS)' writings are meant to help us understand, through God's Word, things in our lives that are challenging, controversial, or are from Satan for the expressed purpose of confusing us, drawing us to popular or 'politically correct' positions, and leading us away from God.  The deceiver doesn't have to work too hard at this because peer pressure and persecution against anyone expressing/living what God says are well established in the world; a world that is at enmity with God.  I encourage you to read the sections in the Bible where references are pulled from; the context of each verse is important in understanding the content of the message.  The intent here is not to have a Bible study on each verse, although that would be great, but rather to draw you to His Word to help us make 'sense' of these challenging topics, to understand Him, His kingdom, where we fit in, what we should be about, how we live, who we are, and what God says we should believe.  God wants and needs us to be interactive, thinking beings searching for truth and applying it where ever we go and to whatever we do.  That's life in Christ Jesus!
